Year 2 Visit To Macclesfield Museum - Victorian Day
Lesson: History
Class: 2H Year: 2021 - 2022
We visited the Macclesfield Silk Museum to find out more about what life was like for the Victorian Factory workers. The children explored the Paradise silk mill - watching the different weaving and spinning machines in action, learnt how to make rag rugs to keep their feet warm in the unheated 2 up 2 down houses used by the workers and then had a look at old and new artefacts comparing the materials that these were made from. There was SO much to take in that I am sure they will be talking about it for years to come!
Many thanks to the wonderful helpers without whom we could not do such visits!
