Online Safety

Online Safety

Online Safety for our pupils is of the upmost importance. We currently teach this topic through Computing lessons as well as PSHE as well as an annual focus on Safer Internet Day. We are now looking at ways to develop this part of our curriculum so that everyone in school feels this is a topic they can talk about. We want our pupils to be confident and responsible users of the Internet, knowing to positives it can bring but also knowing how to keep themselves safe.

For parents, there is a lot of information to help you support your child inlcuding the National Online Safety app and another called Common Sense Media. The NSPCC website has a wealth of information and we refer to the UK Safer Internet Centre. If you ever have any questions about this area, please come and speak to us and we will try to help.

Digital Leaders

At Etchells, we have a group of Digial Leaders from across Key Stage 2. We are a group of children who are enthusiastic about computing and technology. We are always willing to share our knowledge and support the teaching and learning of computing across our school. We support our class mates when technology is used in class, as well as showcasing examples of what is possible and achievable with technology. We meet regularly to share our new learning, trial new software, keep the website and iPads up to date and even support our teachers in their teaching of computing!
