PSHE/RSE

Curriculum intent for PSHE

At Etchells Primary School, PSHE is at the core of what we do and enables our children to become independent, resilient, kind , respectful members of society. As well as this, we ensure that the ‘whole child’ is developed intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually. Through the whole-school approach to PSHE, it is Etchells' belief that ensuring our curriculum is broad and balanced will lead to a strong character and excellence in later life. Our curriculum equips children with relevant and meaningful content, which takes our core values into account:  enjoyment, creativity, challenge, independence, resilience and aspiration . It is important that we nurture the children’s mental and physical health. With an ever changing society, we strive to provide our children with a strong understanding of the diversity around them and support our children with playing a positive role in contributing to the school and wider community.

RSE curriculum intent

At Etchells, we believe that Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is an integral part of a child’s education. RSE is about understanding the importance of family life, stable and loving relationships and respect for others, love and care. We take care to ensure there is no stigmatism of any child based on their home circumstances and we do not use RSE as a means of promoting any form of sexual orientation.

We also strive to teach the children about the 9 protected characteristics in accordance to the Equality Act (2010). There are examples of work on display on school and pictures will be uploaded when the children complete more work on these.
