Music
In Year 3 we love to sing and play instruments in our music lessons! We learn how to sing in 2 part harmonies which helps us to listen carefully to each other whether we're singing the main or second vocals. We also learn about the beat and can use untuned percussion instruments to maintain rhythms and even compose our own. Using the school glockenspiels, we are able to learn about how a keyboard works and different pitches. We can play along with a tune and also use the ideas from music we have studied to compose our own music. Musical notation is tricky but we are learning the basics of reading and writing it. One of our English units is brought to life by the London Symphony Orchestra so we are able to learn all about the instruments in an orchestra and how each one is played whilst seeing how the book is interpreted and adapted for an orchestral accompaniment.
